Built in 1871-72 on a plot overlooking the Maison Haute in Boitsfort - an important location for hunts since the 17th century - and directly neighbouring the Rozenberg and Duivenberg villas and the Sainte-Philomène church (no longer there), the Villa Bloemenberg stands out for its classical style which is both understated and remarkable. At the time, the surrounding area was sparsely inhabited and made accessible from the city centre by the opening of the nearby Boitsfort railway station. The villa bears witness to what country houses were like in the 19th century, but also to the many urban changes that have shaped our capital.
