The Dessigny House on Avenue du Trône, named for the person who commissioned it, is eclectic in style and inspired by the French Neo-Renaissance. It was designed by the architect Eugène Flanneau in 1871. Its red brick façade enhanced with blue stone elements sets it apart from neighbouring houses. The original wooden door is beautifully moulded and decorated. The interior is particularly well preserved as evidenced by the period decor, mouldings, panelling and fireplaces. At the back of the house, there is a magnificent Moorish-style salon, a rare and precious testament to the Orientalist influences so cherished during the "long" 19th century.
